Admission procedure

When you enquire about a possible residency in our care home, we will send you a brochure and would encourage you or your family to visit us.

Prior to your admission, a pre-admission assessment will be carried out to ensure that we can meet all your nursing needs.

On admission, to make the resident feel that they are moving “home from home”, we encourage relatives and friends to bring in a few familiar possessions.  Every effort will be made to reduce the resident’s anxieties immediately on arrival.

When residents move in, their first month is classed as a trial period to decide whether The Devonshire is the right home for them.  It will give staff the opportunity to get to know the resident and ascertain their personal needs and preferences.  During this time, their support requirements are assessed and a plan of care is agreed which will be agreed with relatives or representatives so that everyone is happy.
